Army Star Quilt Block

Cutting Requirements for 12″ finished block (scant 1/4″ seam allowance):

• Red: Cut TWO (2) 3 7/8″ squares. (These are paired with the White 3 7/8″ squares, which will create FOUR (4) Half-Square Triangles. They’ll also be the FOUR (4) corner’s of this quilt block.)
• Blue: Cut EIGHT (8) 2″ x 3 1/2″ rectangles. (These will flank on TWO (2) sides the results of the White 4 1/2″ square & on the other TWO (2) sides the White 3 1/2″ squares, as needed for this quilt block.)
• Navy Blue: Cut FOUR (4) 2 3/8″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You’ll end up with TWO (2) triangles per square. (These will flank the results of the White 4 1/4″ square which will create FOUR (4) Flying Geese. They’ll also help create the center of this quilt block.)
• White: Cut FOUR (4) 2″ squares. (These will flank the results of the Navy Blue 2 3/8″ squares & will help create the center of this quilt block.)
• White: Cut FIVE (5) 3 1/2″ squares. (These are flanked by the Blue 2″ x 3 1/2″ rectangles as needed for this quilt block.)
• White: Cut TWO (2) 3 7/8″ squares. On the back side of each square draw a diagonal line, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. (These are paired with the Red 3 7/8″ squares, which will create FOUR (4) Half-Square Triangles. They’ll also be the FOUR (4) corner’s of this quilt block.)
• White: Cut ONE (1) 4 1/4″ square. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You’ll end up with FOUR (4) triangles. (These are flanked by the results of the Navy Blue 2 3/8″ squares which will create FOUR (4) Flying Geese. They’ll also help create the center of this quilt block.)

If you make TWELVE (12) “Army Star Quilt Blocks,” you’ll end up with the quilt top pictured above. The size will be 36″ x 48″ finished, 36 1/2″ x 48 1/2″ unfinished.

• Navy Blue: Cut FOUR (4) 2 3/8″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You’ll end up with TWO (2) triangles per square. (These will flank the results of the White 4 1/4″ square which will create FOUR (4) Flying Geese. They’ll also help create the center of this quilt block.)
