Our house is done. Well, not installed but it’s at the dealer’s in a town near us. We went over to do a walk-through today. To find all of the things that they screwed up, when they built it. ummmm, folks — CUSTOM HOME means, well, CUSTOM HOME! We had them get rid of a lot of the “trailer home” things (wire shelves in the laundry room, dark paneling, etc.) and we had them add some better features … thermal pane windows, a sliding door in the kitchen, 2 x 6 walls and a 54″ shower (instead of the gag-me garden tub) in the master bathroom.
Of course, there’s problems. Most of them aren’t a big deal — with one exception: They didn’t put a closet door in from the master bedroom to the master closet! What. The. Hell??? There is a door from the master bath to the closet, but not from the bedroom. That makes NO sense to me! JD is going back in the morning to deal with them and their errors. We have to determine if it was the salesman’s omissions or if it was the builder’s errors. Doesn’t really matter, though, does it? The house is not what we ordered.
As we were walking through the house, the manly man was with us. We walked into the living room and then he ran back out the door and started beating on the window, yelling at me.
“Oh Mom, this won’t work!”
“What are you talking about, son?” I questioned.
“MOM, that is a ROUND chimney! Santa can’t get down a ROUND chimney!”
Poor kid. We got so excited over this fireplace when we first looked at the model home that the kids just knew that it was going to be much better for Santa next Christmas!
It is beautful, if’n I do say so myself. Behold … but don’t mind the ‘parts’ as they’ll be gone and installed elsewhere when the house is set up.
