I still haven’t finished documenting our spring break adventures – have one more museum visit to tell about. Way too many other things that have been important to get down on paper else I forget them!
I did, however, get the next three Dash game patterns designed and the patterns written this week – woot! One is due later this month, but the other two are due as DD#2 and I will be getting our ducks in a row to head to Missouri for my niece’s graduation at the end of May…so, I wanted to be ready so I didn’t have to write the patterns at the last minute, taking a chance that I’d make a mistake on them. Here’s photos of two of the quilts I’ve designed – the first for April’s Quilt Dash (www.QuiltDash.com) and the second for May’s Quilt Block Dash (www.QuiltBlockDash.com) … I can’t show you the third one because it’s a mystery quilt for Mystery Quilt Dash (www.MysteryQuiltDash.com)!

Click on the quilt photos to join either of our Dash games – it’s fun, a great way to find new shops and designers you may not have heard of before … and you get FREE quilt patterns to boot!
Last night, DD#2 had to dye eggs for a class party today, and DD#3 and I spent time making cookies for a party in her class today. Today, we continue with our Holy Week activities with Maundy Thursday services and a quiet reverance to the beginning of the end for Jesus…not to mention some doctor’s appointments thrown in for my husband, at least one trip to the grocery store and many, many eggs to dye for our family fun. And then JD’s family that will be joining us tomorrow evening…then Pastor Stone is coming out to share in our Easter feast celebration. Counting our blessings!
Although All Saint’s Day in November is the time when some recognize the deaths of those who have gone before us, I choose to do so between Palm Sunday and Easter. It’s not morbid, to me, because I *know* where my loved ones are! And were it not for Jesus dying on the cross, I couldn’t be so humble (and joyous) about what happens to their/our souls after death.
I’d like to take just a minute to say the first things that comes to mind about some of my family & friends who have passed on, to sit at the right hand of God the Father. And to just remember the reason they live on forever is because of one miraculous Man who gave His life for all of us:
There are more, of course, who have been in and out of my life…but, these 10 listed have been the ones who changed the course of my life in the most profound ways.
And for these losses, I will await the clearing of the altar and silently exit the church on Maundy Thursday. I will sing songs of praise, with the help of the angels above, on Good Friday. And on Easter, oh joy, I will kiss my family and hug those around me with words that I’ve said over and over again through the years: HE IS RISEN! HE IS RISEN INDEED! Thanks be to God!
As I type this message, I feel God’s grace all around me. Our Holy Week began yesterday, with Palm Sunday. The kids in the church took palms and graced us with their presence as they delightfully waved their palms in and out of the aisles in church – costumed in period-style clothing. They were the innocents for whom God’s grace is awaiting them. They are love, in its pure and simplest form.
And when I returned home, I was graced with a red-bud explosion – an early sign of spring….of hope for warmer days and sunshine that beams down from the heavens above.
May you celebrate Holy Week in your own way, and know that God’s grace is free and a way to everlasting life with Him.
Ah, Mary Byers. She’s a sweetheart, and a client who is an author. I originally designed two websites for her previous books, before she decided to merge all of her books into one website. Let’s call her a dream client – no complaints, patience on her end for me to do what she asked…and a wonderful sense of knowing where she wanted to go and being able to communicate that to me.
And then she asks me if I want to be in one of her books!
Do I look like I’d say no to that type of free publicity?!
Mary’s latest book is called Making Work @ Home Work: Successfully Growing a Business and a Family Under One Roof. Yup, that’d be ME!
Making Work at Home Work shows moms how to develop an entrepreneurial mind-set without sacrificing their families. It covers important topics such as developing a successful business philosophy, balancing time between work and family, setting realistic goals, and handling the challenges of being both “Mommy” and “CEO” while running a profitable home-based business.
In addition to including her own experiences, author Mary Byers profiles real moms with home-based businesses who offer their hard-won advice.
Go check it out, especially if you have a desire, drive and determination to work from home. It’s worked SUCCESSFULLY for ME for 14 years!
