Kim Noblin, owner of Block Central, has built quite a following. She started with her free quilt blocks and then started adding her block of the month (BOM) and mystery quilts. I know I made two of one of her BOM quilts (one for me and one for a dear friend of ours) and two of her mystery quilt patterns (one for me and one for a friend of mine) . I loved them so much, I just made more! 🙂 Very rarely do I keep the quilts I make, but I kept two of them from Kim’s patterns. The first one I kept was her 2005 BOM “Everything’s Coming up Roses” quilt. My husband sleeps under it every single night and it gives him some quilty hugs all the night through!
The second quilt I made that was designed by Kim was her “Starfall” mystery quilt. This quilt has a much more sentimental value to me. I purchased a line of Christmas fabric that had roses in it, but you would never know it was Christmas fabric unless you looked really, really closely at it. It’s the roses portion that is the sentimental value.
While living in my third foster home, my foster parents had a natural child who was a year younger than I was. She was diagnosed with Stage IV Hodgkin’s disease and passed away less than a year later. On the programs, that were handed out at her funeral service, my foster parents had put a statement, “God gave us flowers so that we could have roses in December.” Which explains why my fabric choice has such sentimental quilt.
Where was I? OH yes! Block Central! 🙂 Kim started building her site by adding free quilt blocks to it. Here’s a small sample of what she has on her website:
