Whatever Mark, I’m Moving ON

Mark responded to Linda’s blog post at AbbiMays.com, but not to mine.

I’ll take it personal.  Maybe he didn’t like the “basic” BOM quilt design that I put together.  It doesn’t, after all, have embellishments (as he’s stated that the fabric was designed to be embellished) or perhaps it’s too plain for the designs he had in mind.  Or our styles don’t mesh.  Then again, it could just be that he doesn’t care for me, for whatever reason.

Whatever.

It’s my contention that God puts people on your life’s path and in your life’s way.  People that will teach you something, people that you are able to share your wisdom with and people who have meaning.  I certainly understand busy.  And I understand overwhelmed.  If Mr. Lipinski chooses not to contact me, then he’s not meant to be in my life.  Life’s too short to wait on a MAN to notice you.  Do I hear an Amen, ladies?!

I have had a quilt-ful couple of weekends!

Two weekends ago, I put together some “one-bobbin” baby quilts, thus named because I was able to sew the tops with a single bobbin-full of thread!  I’ve already written the patterns, printed them, and sent them off to be kitted and sold.  AND, I even managed to get the tops and backs in an envelope and sent to my quilter!

This past weekend, I *finally* pieced a pattern, color combination and design for that fabric that was trying to eat my lunch!  And do you know what?  When the fabric finally comes together with the pattern, the results are stunning….absolutely amazing, if’n I do say so myownself!  I left this quilt hanging off of my fireplace mantle for a couple of days, admiring it every time I walked by it.  Ahhhh, that sweet smell of quilting success – I never tire of it!  I’m awaiting a touch more fabric, to add a final border to the quilt.

And remember my vow to piece all of the leftover fabric from a quilt into a charity quilt?  For the quilt I made this past weekend, I used the fabrics from a fat quarter bundle.  Except AbbiMays.com was unable to get these fat quarter bundles to sell … all she received was jelly rolls.  So, I took all of the fabrics and cut 2 1/2″ strips from the fat quarters, so I could design a pattern that used the jelly roll fabrics.  Which left me with about 32 fat eighths remaining.  Last night, while I was getting the four kids in and out of the shower, I began sewing these leftover swatches together, intending to use the finished product as a scrappy backing for the new quilt.  When I finished sewing everything together, I had a beautiful, multi-colored backing … but only ONE small fat eighth left for a charity quilt – can you believe it?!  Just when I wanted to break myself of the “stash” habit, I am unable to do so!

I also made a crazy quilted heart for a friend who is having a spot of cancer removed this week (pattern to come soon), with six fabrics, to represent the six members of our family:

Then I put together a couple of burp cloths out of flannel, for a (distant) relative’s baby shower (pattern to come soon):

And finally, I made four quilt squares, for Barbara Douglas’ neighbor, who lost their home to a fire.  Barbara is lovingly piecing a quilt for them:

Gee, can you imagine how much of my stash I’ll use up, if I keep up this level of quilting?  Ah yes, that means I’ll have room for MORE FABRIC!

  1. [...] When we heard about our friend, I had to do something.  We aren’t close in miles, but we are all close in hearts.  So, I whipped up the Crazy Quilted Heart that I showed you previously. [...]
