Reading in the Downtime
I’ve said this many times, but we are a book-loving family. From the time that our children were their tiniest, we’ve read them books. Even before they started school, they all had the great curiosity and willingness to read. Our son went through the Kindergarten AND First Grade reading curriculum in less than 3 months. All of the kids read at grades way above their level, and the most requested adventure around our place is a trip to the library.
And my husband and I read a lot. A book a day is nothing for us, if we have the time to read. So, for 2010, you’ll notice on the far right sidebar, I’m going to try to keep track of the number of books that I read. Thus far, I’ve read 15 books in 31 days:
- “Vampire Diaries: The Fury and Dark Reunion” by L. J. Smith
- “The Man You’ll Marry” by Debbie Macomber
- “Worth the Risk: Partners & The Art of Deception” by Debbie Macomber
- “Second Chance Pass” by Robyn Carr
- “Temptation Ridge” by Robyn Carr
- “Paradise Valley” by Robyn Carr
- “Forbidden Falls” by Robyn Carr
- “A Season of Angels” by Debbie Macomber
- “Touched by Angels” by Debbie Macomber
- “Stealing Home” by Sherryl Woods
- “A Slice of Heaven” by Sherryl Woods
- “Feels Like Family” by Sherryl Woods
- “Welcome to Serenity” by Sherryl Woods
- “Gone Tomorrow” by Lee Child
- “Rough Country” by John Sanford
How many books are you reading? Are you keeping track? Let’s do this together – reading keeps your mind active, and sometimes helps keep your dreams alive!

Hi Tam,
I noticed you’ve read several Debbie McComber books. You should read her books about the yarn shop. It either starts with A Good Yarn or ends with that one. Or maybe that’s the one in the middle the beginning could be The Shop on Blossom Street and I think the most recent is Twenty Wishes. They are very good books. Just an idea. I was able to check them out at the library. I also love the Elm Creek Quilters series.
Anna
I have already read all of those, Anna (yes, definitely great reads) – year or two ago. I’ve just never kept track of how many books I read – and I know that I read a LOT of books. I give those I purchase away or donate them to our local library – and then I check some out of the local library (but, this is SMALL town, Texas – so, not a lot of recent selections there). I just love losing myself in a quilt … or a good book!
Was hoping you could help me I am looking for the pattern called “Point me home” it appeared in issue #125 Jan/Feb 09 of Quiltmaker magazine.
If you have it could you share it with me, would greatly appreciate it.
Thanks and God Bless
